Effects of suicide prevention program influencing toward elderly depression, self-esteem

Abstract
|

|
Objective : The study is before and after experiment study on single group which aims at verifying the mediation effect of suicide prevention program, of which the purpose is to prevent senior suicide by decreasing geriatric depression and increasing self-esteem.
Methods : we used a single group pre- and post-test design. We executed a intervention for 9 sessions. The subjects included seventy-three elderly people who participated program between April and December 2014. The instruments used for this study are Geriatric Depression Scale Short Form-Korea Version, Rosenberg self-esteem for the elderly; the collected data were analyzed by SPSS Window 20.0 program.
Results : That depression and self-esteem score of the subjects was significantly(p<.05). Based on the difference of individual depression value, suicide Prevention program appeared to have therapeutic effect.
Conclusions : Suicide Prevention Program intervention is effective depression and self-esteem of elderly people.
